What is a Scene Builder in ActiveCast, and how do I use it?

Learn how Scene Builder tool can enhance your images for ActiveCast video generation

Written by Lana

Scene Builder is an additional tool in ActiveCast that helps you enhance your source image and add new elements to create the perfect image for your generated ActiveCast video.

Note. Each Scene generation requires additional credits. The number of credits deducted depends on the AI model you select. Nano Banana 2 Lite uses 45 credits per generation, while all other models use 90 credits per generation.

How to access Scene Builder

To access Scene Builder, open the image in the editor. You can do this in one of the following ways:

  • open an image from our library or your own uploaded image to generate your video from scratch. Hover over the image and click “Activate Image” button.

  • open already generated video template from Showcase Tab to regenerate it. Hover over the video and click “Recreate”.

Once you are in the editor, click “Add Element” above the preview screen and select one of the 4 available options:

  • Add Product

  • Add Location

  • Add Character

  • Create Scene.

You can also hover over the photo and click “Edit Image”:

Selecting “Create Scene” option opens Scene Builder tool directly.

If you select “Add Product”, “Add Location”, or “Add Character”, Scene Builder will open together with the corresponding library, where you can select an image from our library or upload your own. To close the library and return to Scene Builder, click “Back” in the upper-right corner.

What can you do in Scene Builder?

In Scene Builder, you can:

Add elements: Character, Product, Location, and Reference Image

You can add:

  • Character — Your main source image. This can be an uploaded photo or an image from our library. You can replace it with another image directly in Scene Builder.

  • Product — A photo of your product or merchandise;

  • Location — A photo of the desired location. Scene Builder uses the background from this image when creating the final scene.

  • Reference Image — A photo of another person, object, or visual element that you want to incorporate into the final image.

You can easily change the category assigned to an image at any time. For example, you can change a Character image to a Product image or a Location image to a Product image. To do this, click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the image and select the desired category.

Note. We recommend avoiding multiple images in the same category, such as two Product images or two Location images. Using multiple images of the same category may confuse the AI and lead to less accurate results.

A Reference Image can only be replaced or deleted. Its category cannot be changed to Character, Product, or Location.

Describe your scene

Use this field to describe the scene you want to create.

For the best results, provide an accurate and detailed description and include all the elements you want to appear in the final image. At the same time, avoid contradictory instructions, as they may confuse the AI and lead to unexpected results.

You can enter up to 3,500 characters in this field.

Select the desired ratio

Choose from 3 available ratios:

  • 9:16 (Vertical);

  • 16:9 (Horizontal);

  • 1:1 (Square).

Note. Not all AI models used for video generation support all image ratios. For example, Gemini Omni Flash, Veo, and LTX do not support the Square ratio.

For more information, see our article about the available AI models.

Select a Scene Style

Scene Style defines the overall visual aesthetic of the generated image and determines whether the result looks natural, polished, raw, or cinematic.

You can choose from 6 Scene Styles:

  • Natural Realism — Creates a natural, realistic-looking image with minimal stylization. Select it if you want the final image to look authentic and close to a typical real-life photograph;

  • Commercial Studio — Creates a polished, professional advertising look. Select it if you are creating product advertisements, e-commerce visuals, promotional materials, or other professional marketing content;

  • Documentary / Raw — Creates a more natural, less polished visual style that can feel candid and authentic. Select it if you want a realistic, everyday, or behind-the-scenes feel rather than a highly produced advertisement;

  • Cinematic Editorial — Creates a more dramatic and visually expressive look inspired by cinematic and editorial photography. Select it if you want a premium, atmospheric image with a strong visual mood or storytelling feel;

  • Social UGC / Mobile — Creates a casual, authentic visual style inspired by content captured on smartphones and shared on social media. The result feels more spontaneous and relatable than highly polished commercial imagery. Select it if you want to create authentic-looking social media content, lifestyle posts, or other content designed to feel natural;

  • Match Reference — Matches the style of the final image to the style of the photo added as a “Reference Image”.

Select Lighting

Lighting controls the atmosphere of the scene, including the overall brightness, contrast, warmth, and shadows.

You can choose from 7 Lighting Modes:

  • Soft Studio — soft, controlled lighting with gentle shadows;

  • Golder Hour — warm, sunset-like lighting with a softer and more atmospheric feel;

  • Neon Cyberpunk — bold, colorful lighting with a futuristic atmosphere;

  • High-Key White — bright, clean, low-contrast look with minimal dark shadows;

  • Moody Rembrandt — dramatic lighting with strong contrast between light and shadow;

  • Natural Ambient — more natural-looking lighting approach that fits the surrounding environment;

  • Match Reference — matches the lighting of the final image to the lighting of the photo added as a “Reference Image”.

Adjust the Aesthetic Finish

Level of Aesthetic Finish determines how refined the final image appears, ranging from a natural, authentic “Candid” look to a highly polished “Studio Polish” look.

Candid: Keeps the result closer to the original visual inputs and creates a more natural or understated appearance.

Middle: Provides a balance between preserving the original inputs and adding visual refinement.

Studio polish: Creates a more polished and stylized result.

Select an AI model

Scene Builder uses separate AI models to generate your final image. Depending on your needs you can choose from 5 available AI models:

  • Nano Banana 2 — suited to creating images quickly while maintaining good overall composition and visual quality. Medium credit consumption.

  • Nano Banana 2 Lite — a lightweight option designed for faster generation. Lower credit consumption.

  • Gpt Image 2 — a high-quality image-generation option suitable for detailed scenes and accurate interpretation of your inputs. Medium credit consumption.

  • Gpt Image 2.5 Sunburst — a more advanced option for detailed, photorealistic imagery and complex scenes. Higher credit consumption.

  • Gpt Image 2.5 Flare — a creative option suited to images with stronger visual effects and a more expressive look. Higher credit consumption.

Note: The exact results may vary depending on your source images, prompt, and combination of settings you choose.

Enable Strong Variations

Before moving on to video generation, Scene Builder generates several images for you to choose from. To get better results, enable the Strong Variations option by turning on the toggle.

Create a Scene

Once you have selected all the desired settings and ready to generate final image, click “Create Scene”. Scene Builder will generate several images that you can choose from.

Note. Each Scene generation requires additional credits. The number of credits deducted depends on the AI model you select. Nano Banana 2 Lite uses 45 credits per generation, while all other models use 90 credits per generation.

Use the image to generate your video

Select the generated image you like most and click “Continue to Video” to return to the editor.
